Gayle Carline
My humble beginnings...

I am a normal Californian, which means that I was born and raised somewhere else. I moved west from Decatur, Illinois in 1978 to work at Hughes Aircraft Company as a software engineer.

Believing firmly that I should experience reincarnation while still alive, I have tried many things. During the 26 years I spent  at Hughes (now Raytheon), I also performed as flying angel for the Crystal Cathedral's Christmas and Easter productions, served as assistant choreographer for both, and was the Director of the C.C. Movement Choir, a dance group that performed for worship services. I also danced in Swing Shift, a performance group that re-created American dances, from the Appalachian clog to the Lindy Hop.

In 1998, my husband, Dale, bought me a laptop computer because I wanted to write. A year after that, he gave me horseback riding lessons, which led to buying a horse. That was when I actually started writing.

Now I write a monthly column, Western Side Story, for California Riding Magazine, and a weekly column, What a Day, for the Placentia News-Times..

And in my spare time (ha ha!), I like to sit down with friends and laugh over a glass of wine.
